Two Ideal Carehomes will be going head to head in the Great British Care Awards this week as staff from Beaumont Hall in Leicester and Coppice Lodge in Nottingham have been shortlisted as finalists for the East Midlands region.  The finalists have been anonymously nominated by colleagues, residents, relatives or professionals and are selected from numerous entries by a team of judges from their region.

Staff from Beaumont Hall are up for two awards, with Home Manager Kerri Simpson shortlisted for the Care Home Manager accolade and her staff team are finalists in the Care Home Team category.  Kerri said, “It is an absolute honour to be selected as a finalist for the Care Home Manager award but I am most excited for my team who work so hard and really deserve this recognition.”

Coppice Lodge in Nottingham are also finalists in the Care Home Team category and will be contending with Beaumont Hall for the award.  But far from being competitive, Home Manager of Coppice Lodge, Samantha Kavanagh, is rooting for the Beaumont Hall team.  She said, “We are all part of the Ideal family and it is an amazing achievement for us both to be up for awards.  Although it would be fantastic for Coppice Lodge to win, we will of course be equally happy if the winner is Beaumont Hall!”

The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals in the care sector who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.  The finalists will attend a meeting this week where they will be interviewed by several judges who themselves work within the care sector.  The results will be announced at a regional gala dinner in November with the winners securing a place at the national awards next year.

Coppice Lodge and Beaumont Hall have recently been rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and Regional Director, Allison Boyle, is thrilled that the homes have now also been recognised at the Great British Care Awards.  She said, “We may have a little joke about the homes competing in the same category but I am so proud of all the staff – they are absolutely outstanding and regularly go above and beyond to create great places to live for our residents.   No matter what the outcome, they all deserve to be finalists and it is so positive that these awards are raising the profile of the care sector as a whole.”

Sarah Clark, who is part of the care team at Beaumont Hall, said, “There is a real family feel at our homes and I hope that comes across to the judges.  Our day at work is not just a job, we are a family that make a difference to so many lives and we act together as a team for a common cause – to care for our residents.”
